Here people learn, laugh, talk together over coffee or tea, play, sometimes cook together and get support when problems arise. If you have any questions about the asylum process, you can get procedural advice.

If you have the time and inclination, every volunteer helping hand is always welcome. We appreciate your help and support:

-in the kitchen team, if you enjoy being a host and preparing small snacks or serving drinks;

-in German lessons, if you enjoy explaining and speaking German;

-when filling out applications, if you like to help people with advice and support and are not put off by official German;

There are many ways to support refugees in their integration and participation. We will work with you to find the right field for you.

If you have any questions or would like to know more, please feel free to contact Sigrid Kulik from Caritas by phone. Telephone: 07121-165612

Cafe Welcome to Roannerstrasse

From 2016 to 2019 there was already a Café Willkommen, an offer for the refugees who lived in the then new container accommodation on Roanner Strasse. A group of volunteers offered meetings and support for a variety of issues in the parish hall of the Jubilate Church. German was also practiced, table tennis was played, cake was eaten and there was a lot of laughter. After three years, everyone had been placed in “Bread and Work”, not so many new refugees came to Reutlingen anymore, the containers were dismantled again. And the volunteer team finished its work.

At the beginning of 2023, the excavators came again, and a few months later the container settlement was finished and occupied. And again, people are needed to build a bridge to our society, to our town, for the young refugee men who live there, so that they too can integrate well. A social worker and her colleague support the residents in many matters. But there is a lack of contact with the local population.

That's why a volunteer started work with a new concept. A room had been kept free for such activities in the office wing on Roannerstrasse. It is now furnished and stocked with learning materials, coffee cups and books. To begin with, the Café Willkommen opens once a month, on Mondays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. So far, 10-15 young men have come each time with a great interest in information, exchange and learning German.

We are very happy to welcome new volunteers! The dates until summer: 8.4., 6.5., 10.6., 15.7. Please contact us at info@cafewillkommenoh.de
